Toured the Battlefield Park!!! Anchored as suggested south of 100R buoy in 12ft of water between the channel and the eastern bank. Never swung as the downstream current kept us south of our anchor. Stayed 2 nights. Occasional wake from small pleasure crafts, no real barge traffic, only saw one barge go by yesterday en route north of C4. The creek on the western shore near 100 buoy was deep, except at the entrance, so trim up your motor!! Midway to the culverts were a couple trees in the water, we were able to squeeze between the two right down the middle of the creek. We docked near the culverts on the north bank before the exposed rocks and walked up to highway 4, went north (turned right) and about 200 yards was the entrance of Battlefield Park (Park Entrance Rd). We walked all the way up to the visitors center (about 2.7 miles). Well worth the walk! Great folks at the center, watched the 20 min movie, a QR code will take you to the trail narration audio and then we took the Wilkinson trail from A to J-K (about 2 miles, making our way back to the dinghy). Once between J-K we detoured off Wilkinson's Trail and headed back to the dinghy. We took a right on "Tour Rd (Tour stop 8)" and took it down the hill and turned right onto the gravel rd on the right before the overpass which took you down to to the "do not enter" gate you passed on the way up to the visitors center (Park Entrance Rd) before you went under the overpass, walk down to the stop sign and turn right, back onto route 4 and another couple hundred yards to the creek and the Dinghy. SUCH A GREAT TRIP for those in shape and can do all that walking!! The trail is a nice cut grass trail with many wet spots so have hiking boot type shoes although my wife did it in tennis shoes.. take along bug spray and water bottles!
