Swing bridge was closed all night, SCF does not respond to radio on Ch.9. Finally got a good phone number from City Hall…called 836-902-2552 with success. The fellow on the phone stated he didn't know it was closed..said it'll take 15 minutes to get someone there. Still waiting 8:38 am.

Waited over an hour for this swing bridge to be opened. The cause was that someone working at the bridge didn't leave it open the previous evening. The Moore Haven lock master does not have contact info for this privately operated bridge. We called the Coast Guard, the Glades County Sheriff's office, FWC and the railroad company. The Sheriff was who eventually was able to find the operator and rouse them to open the bridge. If you are able, check the bridge status with the lock master before heading out from the Moore Haven City Docks in the morning.

Bridge does not respond to radio. A train was coming through. However, it was long gone and the bridge didn't open. We contacted the lock. They called the bridge. In a couple of minutes the bridge opened. We had a green light at the lock.

Private bridge - no answer to radio calls. Called Moore Haven Lock and they called for an opening for us.

Same experience April 17, 13.30. had to wait half an hour. It is a private bridge, we phoned and left a message. No return call, no answer on channel 9 on VHF.

Don’t bother calling for the Moore Haven railroad swing bridge operator because he is also the train driver. He has to stop the train, get out, go over to the box and flip the switch — so if there’s a train running the bridge isn’t going to open because the bridge operator is driving the train. We waited more than an hour, with no response to our radio call.
