Bayou Black
- Location: Bayou Cocodrie
- Mile Marker: GIWW Mile 83.6 WHL
- Lat / Lon: N 29° 38.708' / W 091° 02.258'
- Depth: 11 Feet
- Description:
This is also a designated mooring area for large barges waiting for dock space and many times they arrive during the night. Your best bet is to proceed well past the first bend, beyond the pipes lining the bayou. Show a bright anchor light and for added safety you may want a stern line to the trees ashore. The bayou is wider than the chart would have you believe and depths are 11 feet or better.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
