Boca Chita Outside
- Lat / Lon: N 25° 31.440' / W 080° 10.574'
- Description:
Six foot deep at low tide in the narrow channel that runs north and south along the west side of Boca Chita Key The park was full when we got there and since we got there near dark and did not want to navigate strange and shallow waters at night we decided to drop anchor at the edge of the main channel and entrance to the park. We let out 55 foot of chain in 6 foot of water and held all night in 24 kt gusts. Be sure to anchor far enough from the wall that if you swing towards it, you will miss… We got an accidental Westerly gust for about an hour and luckily missed that wall by about 10 feet Great wind protection from the North and East.
DISCLAIMER: The laws and regulations governing anchoring in Florida waters are complex and everchanging. If you plan to anchor, whether overnight or for an extended period, you should confirm whether you are in compliance with local and state requirements before committing to a location. Two sources of information that may be helpful are the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Florida State Statutes.
