Shark Tooth Island
- Location: Potomac River
- Mile Marker: 24.0
- Lat / Lon: N 38° 08.938' / W 076° 44.873'
- Depth: 7+
- Description:
A sheltered spot in Currioman Bay between Shark Tooth Island and the Virginia Mainland. You must approach from the south. Go around the south end of the little chain of islands, staying wide around Elbow Point. Watch the depth on your chartplotter. There are a lot of crab traps on the way in, but fewer at the anchorage mark. Shark Tooth Island gets its name from the sharks teeth you can find there; we found at least 20 on our stroll along the beach. One of islands has "Members Only" signs on it. You can walk from one island to the other at low tide. Very quiet anchorage, but challenging to get to.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
