Backside Bimini North
- Location: North Bimini
- Lat / Lon: N 25° 46.479' / W 079° 14.955'
- Depth: 8 feet
- Description:
Convenient spot to find shelter from southerly to westerly swells, particularly with a west wind. A good spot to pause when making passage from Great Harbour to Florida, especially if targeting landfall at Port Everglades or points north. Depths of 8' or more can be found within 700' of the shoreline with a sandy bottom (although you may have to look around a bit amidst the turtle grass). One could go ashore, but there's not much there aside from trees and brush. This anchorage is probably not very comfortable with east and/or north wind.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
