Salt Pond

  • Location: Long Island, Bahamas
  • Lat / Lon: N 23° 20.206' / W 075° 07.432'
  • Depth: 6'-8'
  • Tide: 2.0'-2.5'
  • Description:

    ​​Salt Pond is the south end of Thompson Bay which is separated from the main anchorage area by a bar which restricts movement along the shore to shallow draft vessels drawing less than 5'. Most other vessels wishing to move between the two anchorage areas will have to deviate to the west of Salt Pond Cay which divides the area.  The anchorage is south of the Long Island Petroleum fuel dock and north of the shallows surrounding Sandy Cay.
