Smith Bay Settlement

• Description:

  Located ~ 1.5 nm north of Smith Bay Harbour.  For those who need cash, this is a day anchorage that is close to the only ATM on Cat Island. The anchorage is protected from NE-E and open in all other directions.  The bottom is hard and it might take several attempts to find a bowl of sand for your anchor.  There is almost always a swell that causes rolling in any wind, but will become uncomfortable over 15 knots. Due to the tenuous holding, this anchorage is best used as a day stop to access the ATM and grocery store next door.
