Rokers Point NW

  • Location: Exumas
  • Lat / Lon: N 23° 38.460' / W 075° 55.960'
  • Depth: 12'-15'
  • Tide: 2.5'-3.0'
  • Description:

The Rokers Point Anchorage is cut off from the other anchorages along the NE shore of Great Exuma Island by a nearly during sand bar that runs between Bob’s Cay and the mainland of Great Exuma. There is no straight channel across this bar and only vessels drawing 3.0’ or less can make the trip, provided they are prepared to weave around over lapping labyrinth of sand bars. For this reason the only access to the anchorage is via the very tricky Guana Cay Pass.

There is only protection from the S-W in this anchorage and there is an ever-present swell, that will change from benign rocking to dangerous if the wind shifts into the north. One look at the weather worn rocks on the high ground of Rokers Point should be a clue as to the ferocity of the waves in this part of Great Exuma. Except for settled conditions this anchorage is best used as a lunch stop for those willing to brave Guana Cay Pass.

DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
