Pipe Cay Northwest
- Location: Northern Exuma
- Lat / Lon: N 24° 15.269' / W 076° 31.180'
- Depth: 7'-10'
- Tide: 2.5'-3.0'
- Description:
The anchorage is in a narrow tidal creek running along the NW edge of Pipe Cay. Bordered by broad expanses of drying sand flats the holding is very good, and there is excellent protection from N-S winds. In settled conditions the anchorage can provide a calm night's sleep for several boats along its length. The creek is wide enough to provide sufficient swing room for most boats so setting two anchors is generally not required. That said it is important to favor the west bank of the creek when setting anchor to ensure that you do not swing into the rock face that lines this end of Pipe Cay.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
