- Description:
Pipe Creek is known for its scenic beauty that is punctuated with ripping currents and shoals. On the north end of the creek there is a drying sand bar between Compass Cay and Pipe Cay that provides nearly 360° protection at low tide. At high tide a certain amount of swell from Exuma Sound can make its way into the anchorage especially if there is a strong NE component to the wind. For a larger deeper draft vessel however, this anchorage is one of the better places in the middle part of the Exumas to weather a cold front on anchor.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
