Little Halls Pond Cay

  • Location: Northern Exuma
  • Lat / Lon: N 24° 19.613' / W 076° 34.044'
  • Depth: 8'-10'
  • Tide: 2.5'-3.5'
  • Description:

Tucked in between the western shore of Little Halls Pond Cay and a drying sandbar, the anchorage offers excellent holding and good protection from N to SE. There is little fetch from the west due to the nearly drying sandbars making this a viable candidate for riding out a cold front despite its western exposure.   Little Halls Pond Cay is a private island owned by Johnny Depp and boasts the politest no trespassing signs in the Exumas. Do not go ashore.  It is possible to anchor anywhere on the west side of Little Halls Pond and Halls Pond which is further north but there will not be a noticeable improvement in protection. Just remember the further north you go, the further you will have to back track to get to open water, because there is a shoal with a controlling depth of 2.5' that blocks the route north from Halls Pond Cay.

DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
