- Description:
Hatchett Bay is one of the best protected anchorages in Eleuthera and if heavy weather is forecast while you are in the north half of Eleuthera the bay is the place to be.
Anchoring in the bay can be tricky because of the very heavy and dense beds of Turtle Grass which cause most anchors to float over the bottom. Charts show mooring balls in the bay, but they have been missing for years, with the exception of the two moorings at Farrington’s Boaters Haven on the east side of the bay.
DISCLAIMER: Before committing to an anchorage, you should confirm that the location is not governed by a regulation that may conflict with your plans. An increasing number of states and municipalities are enacting laws that define where and how long you may anchor.
